Best in the Area! Wing and yee are great hosts and have been serving up this tasty chinese for a long time. I love the alomond chicken and sweet and sour chicken. Great egg rolls and fried rice too.

I have never been more disappointed with Chinese food and it's a shame because this place was good. I ordered a dinner order of sesame chicken and schezwan chicken. Not only was the chicken not spicy at all like I had asked for, there was absolutely no taste for that matter. It wasn't until after I added Pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper to get any taste out of it. I will never be ordering from this place again, please save your money.

Ordered take out. Found no rice in bag when we got home. Mongolian beef was really Mongolian sauce with mushrooms and a few shreds of beef. Other dishes were marginal at best. We usually love the left overs, most of this meal went down the garbage disposal.

Went for take out on a light snowy night. Albeit on the later side at 8:45, the dated and dingy restaurant was empty and now I know why. The medium spicy General's Chicken combo was terrible. No zip to it, bland fried rice, and a deformed eggroll dripping with oil, for $10.00. And while it was cooked to order, I can't understand why it was cold after only a 5 minute car ride. Trader Joe's frozen fried rice and General's Chicken is much tastier and better; for about $7.50, it will feed 3 easy peasy. The east side needs better Chinese food!

Ok, let me start with the good: the food was still nice and hot by the time I got home, and the steamed rice was done nicely. The bad? Everything else. I should have trusted the bad reviews. The good ones are either from family of the owners or people with an allergy to taste and flavor. Egg rolls? Too greasy and filled with a tasteless mess. Sweet and sour sauce, which was actually good, couldn't even save them. Kung pao chicken? Ordered it very spicy, and it was anything but. Absolutely no flavor, and full of chopped celery, a sure sign of a cheap-ass Chinese place. Hot and sour soup was neither, thick like gravy, but still managed to be the closest thing to edible. I actually like some totally unhealthy, cheap, Americanised Chinese take-out as a guilty pleasure, but it's gotta have SOME flavor. For free this would've offered bad value, for $16 a total rip-off.

I hate to update my review and take away stars but man oh man the last 3 carry outs we got from there were awful!!! 1 bad you can let slide. 2 bad eh can be forgiven. 3rd bad was worst than 1 and 2 put together. I had been just craving some seasme chicken and some soup. So my fella swung by picked up our food and when he arrived I said to him " what smells like wet dog" mind you I have 2 dogs both of which were dry. It was our food or the bags the food was in. I don't know. The entire order was off. I asked for white not fried rice, hot and soup not wonton and the seasme chicken pieces were small like way way small and cooked to a hard fried crisp. NOT GOOD!! My fellas spicy noodle dish had no spice and it was greasy. So weird. Ugh I am so upset about this because I really like Golden Dragon and I want to keep liking it but dang them for 3 bad meals in a row. I am torn about going back but after 3 times it makes it very hard for me to do it. Sorry GD, I may have to move on. :(

I've been hard-pressed to find a decent Chinese food joint since I moved to the Grosse Pointe area a few months ago. I was totally excited upon entering Golden Dragon a few weeks ago. It had all the trappings of a typically awesome Asian dining experience: kitschy and gong-heavy decor; perpetually grinning and pleasant hosts; a dirty back alley entrance. I wanted to LOVE Golden Dragon, I really did, but the reality is their food is just a step above mall-grade Chinese fare. I can't even remember the specifics of each dish we tried because everything was so humdrum. Bummer. My search continues...

Best I've found on the East side so far. Have been there twice and will keep going.

Location/Parking: Located on Mack near the Post Office and right next Irish Coffee. There is usually a good amount of parking on the side and in the rear or on the street. Pricing: Pretty reasonable pricing for a really large meal. Cleanliness: Mostly clean but the bathrooms could use hotter water in the faucets. Service Quality: pretty average...no real complaints but nothing out of the ordinary. Ambience/Atmosphere: Really dark and quiet but there is this relaxed feel there with the Asian décor and there is a pretty cool mural on the dining room wall with a cool ceiling design above the booths. Crowd: Mostly locals from the east side and vicinity. Mostly middle class with some ton GP folks mixed in. Not pretentious at all.. The food: Some of the most amazing General Tso's chicken I have ever had anywhere. They don't overly bread it and it comes in this amazingly tangy/sweet sauce. The dinner rolls are usually stale but the egg rolls are almost always fresh out of the fryer.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
